A Christian on Nudity
Hi guys,
So, for those of you who have been following my theatre posts, you should know by now that I’ll be doing a bit of nudity in my next play. And for those of you who know me personally, you’ll also know that I am a pretty devout Christian. (And quite obviously a very liberal Christian) Don’t I sound like a complete paradox? A devout Christian who does nudity? That can’t be all right, can it? Well, if you look at Genesis, Adam and Eve were nude until they bit into the apple of knowledge. Suddenly they were ashamed of their bodies. They went so far as to punish themselves by wearing itchy and uncomfortable fig leaves. So does that mean that we wear clothes in order to punish ourselves? Well, no. Nowadays our clothes are used as protection from the elements, especially in colder climates, but in warmer countries where the people have evolved darker skin for protection against the sun’s rays, nudity is widely accepted. I believe that the human body is beautiful. This is a lesson I learned from my grandma, also a devout Christian. We talked about Moulin Rouge one day (the actual gentleman’s club, not the movie), and she said that she’d love to go one day. I only wish that she’d lived long enough for me to eventually bring her there. Maybe she watches shows every once in a while. Or maybe everyone’s back to their Adam and Eve innocence in heaven, roaming around naked. That heaven sounds awesome to me.
I believe that everything God makes is beautiful, especially the human body, since we were created in His image. That’s why I, as a devout Christian, am completely fine with doing nudity for art.
This is awesome.
This was the welcome note in my church’s booklet for today’s service. I just thought some of you would like to know that the true message of Christianity is one of love and acceptance.
MAN, YOUR CHURCH SOUNDS BOSS.
I WANNA GO
ME TOO
This seems to be from a Catholic Church. That makes me proud :)

The laws in the Old Testament were set forth by God as the rules the Hebrews needed to follow in order to be righteous, to atone for the sin of Adam and Eve and to be able to get into Heaven. That is also why they were required to make sacrifices, because it was part of the appeasement for Original Sin.
According to Christian theology, when Jesus came from Heaven, it was for the express purpose of sacrificing himself on the cross so that our sins may be forgiven. His sacrifice was supposed to be the ultimate act that would free us from the former laws and regulations and allow us to enter Heaven by acting in his image. That is why he said “it is finished” when he died on the cross. That is why Christians don’t have to circumcise their sons (God’s covenant with Jacob), that is why they don’t have to perform animal sacrifice, or grow out their forelocks, or follow any of the other laws of Leviticus.
When you quote Leviticus as God’s law and say they are rules we must follow because they are what God or Jesus wants us to do, what you are really saying, as a Christian, is that Christ’s sacrifice on the cross was invalid. He died in vain because you believe we are still beholden to the old laws. That is what you, a self-professed good Christian, are saying to your God and his son, that their plan for your salvation wasn’t good enough for you.
So maybe actually read the thing before you start quoting it, because the implications of your actions go a lot deeper than you think.

God is love
You see that tattoo on my neck? (Yes, for those of you who were wondering, that is in fact me.) It says “God is love” in ancient Filipino script (Balikbayan). That’s right, God is LOVE. That means all kinds of love: straight, homosexual, bisexual, or what have you. Love is love. I’m getting tired of the right-wing Christians out there giving a bad name for the rest of us. Hey liberals! Just because I have this cross on my back doesn’t mean I’m a prudish bigoted asshole like Rick Santorum! Yes, I’m Catholic. No, that doesn’t mean I think non-heterosexuals need to renounce their evil ways before they burn in hell. In fact, I’m bisexual myself. No, I don’t think that that’s an oxymoron. I know that God loves me as much as the rest of his children. He made me this way and He doesn’t make mistakes. Where in the Bible does it say to hate everyone who is different from you? Where does it say to hate “sinners”? No where. This is what it says in the Bible: “For the whole law can be summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” (Galatians 5:14 NLT)”. The WHOLE law. That means every word, the ten commandments, every single law that God ever decreed, every single word Jesus ever said can be summed up in that one law. Love your neighbor as yourself. I have no idea where these so-called “Christians” came up with the idea that God could hate anyone. Some people just have so much hate in their hearts they have to project it onto their deities. I personally wouldn’t want to live in a world created by a God who rules through hatred. So remember, next time you see a hate-mongering “Christian,” that’s not what all of us are like. There is such a thing as a liberal Christian. In fact, I’m pretty sure the majority of us are liberal. We’re the ones that went to college.
Keeping Faith
In my darkest days
In my blackest hours
I turn to You
I cannot find You
Have you abandoned me?
I do not feel your presence
Stirring in my soul
The way it did
In my youth
The demons have won
And I’m falling faster
Into the pits of hell
Where are You?
I’m almost gone
When sudden brightness
Pierces through the sky
Awakening
What lies within
The courage to be strong
I lean on You
When I’ve no strength
For You have given me
Everything I’ll ever need
And more love than man could give
Even when I feel like
There’s nothing to live for
I remember that no matter
How broken that I feel
Nothing can compare to
The sacrifice You’ve given
The man who died
In deepest torment
So that we all may live.
